Your dealer will probably tell you to charge it to 80 percent and never fill it. For a BYD, that advice is wrong.
Every BYD sold in India runs a Blade Battery, which is LFP chemistry, not the NMC packs most other EVs use. LFP generally tolerates and benefits from a regular full charge. The 80 percent habit people repeat is advice for a different battery. Follow it for three years on the wrong chemistry and you will never know what it cost you.
That is one thing you learn at delivery. It is not the only one.
This is the pre-delivery inspection for the BYD Atto 3, Seal, Sealion 7 and eMAX 7. Over 70 checkpoints for your exact model, and the BYD-specific ones.
The rotating screen. It is a motor sitting in the middle of your dashboard. Turn it five or six times, not once. A motor that is going to fail stutters on the fourth turn, not the first.
The manufacturing date. BYD prints it on the sticker inside the driver’s door. The VIN will give you a model year, which is not the same thing at all. A car can carry a 2026 model year and have been built the previous autumn. Read the sticker, and do not let anyone hand you the model year instead.
DiPilot. At delivery you can confirm every feature is enabled and nothing is throwing a calibration warning. What you cannot do is judge how it behaves standing still in a showroom, and anyone who tells you otherwise is guessing. Check it is on and clean, then judge it on your first drive.
The Seal’s underbody. It sits on roughly 145 millimetres with sports-tuned dampers. Between the stockyard, the transporter ramp and the dealer’s own speed breakers, it can collect scrapes before you ever set eyes on it. Get low at both ends and look.
All of it runs on your phone at the dealership. Pick your model, walk the car, mark pass or fail, photograph anything wrong. You leave with a PDF report carrying your findings, your photos, and a verdict.
₹2,499 once. Three inspections, sixty days, no subscription. No money from BYD, no money from any dealer.
The moment you sign, every fault in that car becomes yours. Be ready before that, not after.
