Privacy Policy

Last updated: 4 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Throttle and Tech (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you visit our website at throttleandtech.com, purchase our products, or use our tools. We have written this policy in plain English so you can actually understand what happens to your data when you interact with us. If anything is unclear, please write to us at ask@throttleandtech.com and we will explain.

This policy is governed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable Indian privacy laws.

1. Who we are

Throttle and Tech is an independent automotive content and digital products platform based in India. We are the data fiduciary for the personal information you share with us. Our registered address is 4, Radhey Shyam Enclave, Civil Lines, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh.

2. What information we collect

We collect different types of information depending on how you interact with us.

When you visit our website: We use Google Analytics to understand which pages people read, how long they stay, and how they reach us. This data is anonymised at collection — we cannot identify individual visitors from analytics alone.

When you purchase a product: We collect your full name, email address, phone number, and billing address. This information is collected through our checkout process powered by WooCommerce and is required to deliver your purchase and meet our record-keeping obligations under Indian law.

When you make a payment: Payments are processed by Razorpay. We do not see or store your full card number, UPI ID, or bank account details. Razorpay handles this information directly. We do receive a transaction reference and the payment amount for our records.

When you use the PDI Master Blueprint: You may enter details about your car including the brand, model, variant, fuel type, VIN, manufacturing date, and colour. You may also upload photographs of any defects you find during inspection. These photographs are stored on our servers and included in the PDF report we generate for you.

When you subscribe to our emails or fill our consultation form: We collect your name and email address, and any details you choose to share about your car-buying preferences.

When you contact us: If you email or call us, we keep a record of that communication so we can respond and improve our customer support.

3. Why we collect this information

We collect personal information for specific, defined purposes:

  • To deliver our products to you: Sending your access key, download links, and order confirmations.
  • To provide customer support: Responding to your queries about purchases, technical issues, or refund requests.
  • To process payments: Confirming your order via Razorpay and resolving any payment disputes.
  • To generate your PDI report: Storing your car details and inspection photos so the tool can produce your personalised report.
  • To improve our products and content: Looking at anonymised analytics to understand which articles, reviews, and tools are useful, and where we can improve.
  • To send you our newsletter and product updates: Only if you have explicitly opted in.
  • To meet our legal obligations: Maintaining transaction and tax records as required by Indian law.

4. With whom we share your information

We share your information only with the following categories of service providers, and only to the extent necessary for them to perform their function:

  • Razorpay — for processing your payment. Razorpay has its own privacy policy that you can review at razorpay.com.
  • Google — for website analytics (Google Analytics), search performance (Google Search Console), product listing (Google Merchant Center), and customer reviews (Google Customer Reviews, only if you opt in at checkout).
  • Hostinger — our website hosting provider, where data is stored on servers based in India.
  • Email service providers — for sending transactional emails (order confirmations, access keys, refund notifications) and our drip email series.

We do not sell your personal information to any third party. We do not share your information with car dealerships, manufacturers, advertisers, or any other commercial entity for marketing purposes.

5. How long we keep your information

We retain your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy or as required by law:

  • Order and transaction records: 7 years, as required by Indian accounting and tax laws.
  • PDI session data and inspection photos: 12 months from the date of your session, after which we delete them. You can request earlier deletion (see Section 8).
  • Email subscriber data: Until you unsubscribe. Once unsubscribed, your email is removed from our active mailing list within 30 days.
  • Website analytics data: Up to 14 months at Google Analytics, as per Google’s default retention.
  • Customer support emails: 24 months from the date of last interaction.

6. Cookies and tracking

Our website uses cookies — small text files stored in your browser — to make the website function and to understand how it is used.

Essential cookies: Required for the website to work, such as remembering your shopping cart and login state. These cannot be disabled without breaking core functionality.

Analytics cookies: Set by Google Analytics to measure traffic and usage patterns. These are anonymised.

You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of our website, such as your ability to complete a purchase.

7. How we protect your information

  • Our website uses HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your browser and our servers.
  • Payments are processed by Razorpay, which is PCI-DSS compliant. We never store your card details or banking information.
  • Access to our backend systems is restricted to authorised personnel and protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication where supported.
  • We maintain regular backups and monitor our servers for unauthorised access.

That said, no system is 100% secure. If we ever become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as required by law.
