Our Story

Before I tell you my story, let me touch upon the story of Volkswagen.

Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen began as Nazi prestige project back in 1934 and the company built its main plant in Wolfsburg. “Kafer” was the first car that was produced by the company. Kafer is none other than iconic Volkswagen Beetle. After the war, Volkswagen was instructed by British to build a saloon. Innovative and flexible manufacturing systems made an appearance in the 1970s and led to the birth of a new generation of Volkswagens with the Passat, Scirocco, Golf and Polo models.

Red Polo 1.2 TDI
2011 - 2015

Anant Seth with Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TDI

I still remember the day when we test drove the Polo TDI, mind you we already had a Hyundai Accent and Toyota Innova Gen 1 at home, the moment I opened the door and sat on the driving seat, this car felt special. The heft and the quality were something that I had never experienced before. The sure slotting gear shift and the large steering wheel, the diesel felt was underpowered from get the go, but the car was so damn sure footed. It really felt well built, that test drive was enough to seal the deal for the car and we got ourselves a Red Polo 1.2 TDI in the base trendline variant. This was the first car that I inspected before taking the delivery and I identified a scratch on the rear door, the dealer offered us to fix the scratch and in addition get us fog lamps that came with the highline variant free of charge!

The car was used to chauffeur my mom who is a doctor to her clinic and to do Noida to Bareilly runs as I was completing my B.Tech from Amity Noida. It was a hoot to drive on the highway, noisy but so much fun. It produced some torque at the top end of the rev range, but it was the high-speed stability that was a game changer. This car was so sure footed at even 150 kmph. We kept the Polo till 2015 before my dad decided to sell it in 2015.

Deep Black Pearl Vento 1.6 TDI
2014 - Present

This car was already becoming popular amongst the car enthusiast, and I already had done a lot of research about it before we went ahead and made the booking. I was originally a Honda City fan and had convinced my parents that it was time that we got ourselves the best sedan of India Honda City 1.5 I-VTEC petrol manual. This was the time when Honda City was extremely popular in India and used to sell 6000+ units’ month, we went to test drive the Honda City and sadly the petrol variant was not available. We test drove the Honda City Diesel instead, the I-DTEC with a 100hp engine, it was decent. My dad wanted to book the car but the waiting time for petrol Honda City was 3 months, wherein my dad the impatient guy wanted the car within 2 weeks maximum. Honda City thus was dropped out of the list, and Vento entered the scene. When it came to Vento, I was pretty sure what I wanted, I wanted the torque king 1.6 TDI and in black color, and this time we would get the highline variant with all the bells and whistles. Why the black color you ask – it was during this time that I had seen the Jason Statham’s The Transporter movie trilogy and I was super impressed with black sedans – The BMW 7 series in part 1, the Audi A8s W12 in part 2 and 3 and thus we had to have a black sedan as I wanted to live the Statham life.

When the Vento came to our home I was at college, it was only after my exams was I back home to drive it and it was love at first sight the first time I drove it, so much torque from get go, 250nm to be precise I had never experienced such power before, this car was flying and pouncing on half throttle inputs. I took the car to Bareilly Bypass and Vento easily reached its top-speed of 180kmph. I knew this was the car for me and it was going to stay with me forever. We still have the Vento and currently it does chauffeur duty for my mom.

Topaz Brown Polo 1.5 TDI
2017 – Present

Anant Seth with Volkswagen Polo 1.5 TDI

Now my brother also joined Amity and badly needed a car to commute, he had test driven the Ford Figo and was not happy with the engine noise and cabin insulation. My family went to Volkswagen showroom later that day and he test drove the refreshed Polo 1.5 TDI that produced 90hp and 235nm of torque, my brother Anant fell in love with it and they bought the car on that very day! That is the kind of impact Volkswagen can have on you, once you test drive that machine you are almost smitten. The Polo got more updated interior and features compared to my Vento such as rain sensing wipers, new flat bottom steering wheel and new instrument cluster with illuminated needles. The car to this day feels mechanically fresh and while my Vento has been riddled with fuel injector problems over the years, the Polo ownership has been mostly free of major troubles.

Deep Black Pearl Tiguan 2.0 TSI
2024 – Present

Urja and Vinayak with Volkswagen Tiguan 2.0 TSI

The year was 2024 and I had relocated to Mumbai for my new job, as I write this excerpt, I am again relocating to Gurugram in a few weeks, my search for a new car began as I wanted a car that I could drive in and out of tier 1 cities without worrying about the GRAP restrictions. My budget this time was flexible, and I was willing to delve into the luxury marquees as well. Once again, the guy I am I wanted to purchase the best possible engine and combination in the lowest possible price. My choices were all in VAG group – VW Tiguan, Skoda Kodiaq, Audi A4 and the Audi Q3. The price differential within these cars were significant and I did not want the extra row of seating and 100kg weight that Kodiaq offered and thus finalized the Volkswagen Tiguan Elegance. The car was delivered to my hometown and me, and my fiancé drove it all the way to Mumbai doing a 2000km road trip over 5 days. The Tiguan was the first TSI engine in our family, it feels high quality and a notch above anything I have driven so far, and I plan to explore India in it over the next couple of years.

I have 15 years of experience with ownership, maintenance and care of Volkswagen Group cars, and this puts me in a unique position to help you like no other.
