- It is wise to run a google map search of the destination before we depart; if it is time to destination is more than twice the regular time, if possible, delay or postpone your commute
- If it is critical that you travel, then please use the oldest car or the car with maximum ground clearance for example if you have a Volkswagen Virtus and Ford endeavor in the house use Ford Endeavor, if you have an old Creta and a new Verna it makes sense to use the old grand i20
- Once you are enroute please remember that you are driving under very special circumstances and the friction between your car tires and road is much reduced. Do not exceed the speed of 40 in the city and 80 on the highway
- If you are driving and come across a puddle of water, if you don’t have any car ahead of you and you must cross then it is better to let someone else pass and you monitor the depth of the puddle and then attempt to move your car through it
- If there are several cars going through a puddle, you wait before the puddle and let the car ahead of you pass, once the path is clear you go through the puddle in a constant speed, lower gear and engine spinning at higher rpm
- It’s critical that you maintain proper speed, you must create a wave and you can create that by going through the puddle at the speed of 15-20kmph and preferable in a higher gear. The wave pushes the water outwards and away from the engine compartment. If you go too fast you will cause water to enter the engine compartment
- Now God forbid, if your car stalls, and shuts off, do not attempt to start it, if the water has entered the cylinder the engine is hydro locked if you try to start it your car is gone forever. Safely exit the car, do not panic and call the roadside assist, if possible, indicate to the traffic behind your car that your car is stalled and help the other cars navigate around your car
